Ancient Thracians, who inhabited Bulgaria during the bronze and iron ages, thousands of years ago, were familiar with the healing powers of mineral springs. The Romans liked and used the healthy mineral water and had built a lot of healing centers and baths in our lands.
Few countries in the world are able to compete with Bulgaria in terms of variety of their thermal springs.
Up until now, approximately 800 mineral water sources have been discovered in Bulgaria. Over 80% of them have curative properties and their temperature varies between 20 and 100 degrees Celsius.
Most of the thermal springs in Bulgaria originate from a great depth, which guarantees the purity of the water.
Most of the springs serve the basis for the development of tourism and wellness in Bulgaria.
Renowned for its healing properties is the water of Hisarya, Bankya, Sandanski, Narechenski mineral springs, and others. Modern spa centers have been built at these and other locations in Bulgaria, which attract visitors from abroad.
There are a plenty of mineral springs also on the Bulgarian coast.

You can be a part and take the chance to celebrate one of the most attractive Bulgarian Festival – “Tzvetnitsa” – Flower Day also called Vrubnitsa (Willow Day) which is celebrated on the Sunday before Easter and is an important ritual for the young girls, called “kumichene”. The girls who have taken part in the Lazaruvane the day before go together to the river bank, where the ritual takes place.
Each girl has prepared a wreath made of willow branches or spring flowers and floats it to the surface of the water. They watch as the wreaths flow down the river to see which one will be first in the row. The girl whose wreath reaches farthest becomes the leader of the group, who is believed to have the magic power to chase away the dragon /who is always looking for a young girl to carry away with him/. In the evening lazarsko horo /the circle dance/ is played for the last time.
Tzvetnitza is an important festivity for Bulgarians. On this day everybody goes to church, from where they take home sanctified willow branches, which are believed to help against “evil eye” and different diseases.
All men, women and children with the name of a flower or tree celebrate their Name day on Tzvetnitsa .
On Name days, everyone is welcome to be a guest in the home of the celebrating persons, no invitation or previous notification needed. The guests can share the treats prepared by the family and usually brings flowers, or other presents to the person with the flower name.

The food is special, traditional Bulgarian and very delicious.
Easter is one of the most important holidays in Bulgaria. In the country, the festival is called "Velikden", which literally means ‘the faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ’.
Easter traditions in Bulgaria are a part of the Eastern Orthodox Church rituals. In tune with worldwide Orthodox traditions, red colored eggs and Easter breads known as "kozunak" are the prominent symbols of Easter in Bulgaria.
On Thursday before the Easter only during the day , in sunshine the eggs must be painted into different colors, specially in red.
At midnight on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, people in Bulgaria gather at church, with red painted eggs and bread. The priest proclaims three times "Christos Voskrese" (Christ has risen) and the congregation replies "Vo istina voskrese" (Indeed he has risen). One of the Easter breads is specially decorated with one or more (but an odd number) of red eggs. After a special sequence of services, the clergy blesses the breads and eggs brought by the people.
The Bulgarian ‘good luck crack’ is a unique Easter tradition in Bulgaria. Eggs are cracked after the midnight service and over the next few days, during the festive season of Easter. On Easter, the eggs are cracked before lunch. People take turns in tapping their eggs against the eggs of others, and the person who ends up with the last unbroken egg is believed to have a year of good luck. This person is considered as the most successful, healthy and happy person for the rest of the year.
The traditional Easter dishes served on the festival in Bulgaria include Fresh green salad, ‘Banista’ (Bulgarian pastry), ‘Palachinki’ (a type of pancake), ‘Lamb Kebap’. The traditional recipes are prepared and served on the Easter Sunday.

On the first of March Bulgarians carries a Martenitca with us, so that we are healthy. Martenitca has a symbolic meaning. A Martenitca always is in red and white color executed. Red is a symbol of health and white is for a long life to bring.
The Martenitca is put to the sweater or to the jacket. For children carry red-white thread around the right hand still during they sleep.
The young girls and boys carries the Martenitca around the neck.
The Martenitca carried as long until the person see the first stork and then he must it against the sun throw to a flowering branch of tree  or to put it under a stone.
Then the people remain the whole year over healthy and lively.
There is many legends and people faith with this symbol.
Am 1-st March we have to wake up and stand up before sunrise to rise thereby Baba Marta should not find us in the bet. Otherwise we will be too sleepy until the end of the year. What is Baba Marta called? Baba Marta means grandmother Marta. So is by us March called.
The 1-st day of March comes with hoping ,health, happy and gladness.
